About Alika

Alika is a junior at Chapman University, and is the Vice President of Fraternal Affairs for the Alpha Kappa Psi Rho Chi chapter. He has been working at Cottonwood Dairy for 2 years, and is currently Operations Manager of Cottonwood Compost.

“Gain as much as you can from the organization. What you experience in the fraternity is very applicable to real life at times. Stay humble and be confident in yourselves. AKPsi will prepare you for the real world only if you invest your time in it.” -- Alika Chuck

Pharm Robotics

Last October, Alika was approached by his boss at Cottonwood Dairy to write a patent for a robotic injection system for dairy cows. This mechanism would be responsible for systematically delivering injections to the cows at an effective pace, ultimately eliminating the need for labor in that sector. The patent was finished in July, and is officially patent pending.

In late July, Alika and his boss travelled to the Central Valley to present their idea to an agricultural technology company (VAS), in the hopes of acquiring both a seed fund and to secure a partnership with the company. During the presentation, Alika was able to stay calm and collected, and attributed his adeptness to the skills he obtained through Alpha Kappa Psi.

The meeting was a success, and the pair wowed VAS with their original idea. They are currently awaiting a response from the company, which should arrive by the end of September. But as of August, Alika and his boss are officially the founders of the startup “Pharm Robotics”, with the mechanism, named “SureShot”, as their main product.

Whether their startup succeeds or fails, Alika is incredibly thankful for the opportunity, and believes he would not have been able to execute any of it without the help of the fraternity.
